Traditonal pig killing in Kalotaszeg

Day 1:

- arrival in the afternoon, reception in a traditional Kalotaszeg barn

- accommodating the guests, getting acquainted with the hosts and the village

- joint dinner

Day 2:

- breakfast at the hosts

- traditional pig killing, tasting the "catcher’s pálinka”, tasting roasted pig ear and blood mingled with onions

- trip with a horse-drawn sleigh or carriage to Magyarvalkó (depending on snow conditions), viewing a fortified church from the 13th century, with painted wooden ceiling, tasting mulled wine during the journey

- joint lunch

- excursion to the Someş river’s valley, and the lake and dam from Beliş, the battle scene from the 1849 Hungarian revolution

- pig-killing dinner: live folk music, folk costumes and dance show


Day 3:

- breakfast at the hosts

- trip to the picturesque valley of the Stanciu stream and the Vălul Miresei (Bridal Veil ) waterfall

- departure



- accommodation, meals: 56 EUR / person, -  single supplement: +11 EUR/ person

- guide services(2 days): 120 EUR

- program with traditional music, presenting folk costumes and dances: 195 EUR

- trip with horse-drawn sleigh or wagon –26 EUR/ sleigh or wagon (up to 6 persons/sleigh or wagon)



- minimum number of participants: 20 persons

- the accommodation and meals are provided by Hungarian families in Sâncraiu. There is usually one bathroom belonging to two rooms.

- program may change depending on weather conditions

- during their trips tourists travel by their own vehicles

- on request you can rent a minibus or a jeep

- the duration of the wagon or sleigh-trip, together with visiting the church is approx. 3 hours

- the 6 km distance between Răchiţele village and  Vălul Miresei waterfall can be covered on foot or by car, on forest road. Please, bring proper clothing and footware.
